NODIA / COMMON GROUNDFIELD NOTES — 01 / 02

Good games
start with
common ground.

You have the paddle. Maybe what’s missing is a familiar face—or a game that feels like yours.

Find your starting point

A 3-step explorer. Not a search for nearby players.

THE REAL STARTING LINE

Finding a place to play
isn’t always finding your kind of session.

A paddle rack doesn’t explain itself. A busy court doesn’t promise the right level. And your group chat’s “anyone free?” can still end in silence.

01 / YOUR NEXT SESSION

What’s stopping
your next session?

Three choices. A more useful starting point.

Your answers stay on this page, in this browser tab. No location lookup. No profiles. No actual matching.

Illustrative guidance, not a Nodia feature selector.

02 / WHY PUT IT ON A RING?

The phone has the context.
The ring is the nudge.
The hello is yours.

A free group chat is still useful. Nodia’s design goal is different: a discreet physical cue to notice shared interests, without staying glued to a feed.

Start with a shared interest.

The intended Nodia app brings interest context. This drawing illustrates an idea—not an available app screen or a nearby player.

Planned experience. Discovery depends on participating users, connectivity and final permissions. No notification, match or friendship is guaranteed.

Keep your open-play group.
Add a different possibility.

WHAT WORKS TODAY

Clubs, hosted open play and group chats help organize courts, levels and times. They may already be all you need.

WHAT NODIA IS EXPLORING

An interest-led app plus a discreet ring vibration could make common ground easier to notice between games. You still discuss level and availability yourself.

03 / KNOW YOUR SESSION

Same sport.
Different needs.

A first game and a competitive game need different introductions. Neither needs a promise of instant friendship.

FIND YOUR RHYTHM.
IF YOU’RE NEW

“Where does my paddle go?”

Ask the host how the queue rotates and whether the session welcomes beginners. Learn the local system before joining a game; it varies by venue.

Try: “It’s my first time here. How do people rotate in?”

IF YOU’RE EXPERIENCED

A full court isn’t the same as a good fit.

Ask about the session’s level and format. A dedicated competitive session or challenge court may fit better than mixed-level social play. Respect the host’s rules either way.

Try: “Is this session social play, drills, or competitive games?”

Grounded in Sun City Pickleball El Paso’s local etiquette and The Dink’s open-play guide. No universal rotation rule is implied.

THE QUESTION WE SHOULDN’T SKIP

“But what if no one
near me uses it?”

Then a ring cannot
make a community appear.

Nodia’s intended discovery needs other participating people with shared interests. In a small town, a rural area, or while travelling, that overlap may not exist. We have no local participation numbers or city rollout to promise.

Start with regional clubs, recreation-center schedules and existing open-play groups. Plan the trip around a confirmed session—not a hoped-for Nodia match.

04 / A SMALLER SIGNAL

A little less screen.
A little more world.

A physical cue is the point of the ring—not a replacement for the phone. The app is intended to supply interest context; the ring is designed to make that moment easier to notice.

BEFORE THE HELLO

Good questions.
Straight answers.

Is this a working product or a concept?

Concept and appearance design are complete. A validated working prototype, ring–app integration and production readiness are not yet complete. Every scenario and tap-through here illustrates a planned experience, not a completed trial.

Why not just use a free app or a group chat?

Keep using what works. Clubs, open play, gym boards and group chats already help people organize sessions. Nodia’s distinct design goal is a discreet physical nudge paired with interest context from the app—not better court booking or guaranteed partners. Whether that adds value still needs real-world testing.

Does the ring identify people by itself?

No. The intended experience needs the Nodia app and other participating users. The app is intended to provide shared-interest context; the ring is designed to provide a vibration. Compatibility, connectivity, permissions and notification behavior still need validation.

Can I filter by rating, distance or free time?

This page does not promise those features. The explorer is local illustrative guidance, not a settings screen for the future app. No rating filters, search radius, schedule matching, nearby player list or local participation numbers have been verified.

What about privacy and unwanted contact?

The concept is an opt-in introduction, and starting a conversation remains your choice. Final discovery permissions, data practices and user controls need to be documented and validated before release. The explorer stores answers only in current page memory. A future signup sends only the fields described beside the form.

Should I wear a ring while climbing?

No. Remove all rings before climbing or belaying, and follow your gym’s and instructor’s safety guidance. Nodia does not verify belay competence or certify partners. A conversation is never a substitute for appropriate training, equipment checks and partner checks.

What will subscribing get me?

Nodia launch and product-development emails. No discount, priority access, guaranteed beta place, city rollout or delivery date is promised. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
